Edith Never Was A Mourning Person

So, here she is. The mostly finished first painting in the "Bird Girl" series. She may not be totally finished.  I am planning on making a few more and trying to sell prints and cards on Etsy.  Jen, if you have any etsy advice, let me know. And if anyone, visual arts friends or otherwise  has any healthy criticism please dish it out. I am living in a bit of a vacuum here. But hey, this is not fine art it is fun art. And it seems that there is a lot of it out there on Etsy and I thought it would be fun to join the bandwagon.

Very interesting Kelly. I know nothing about art - no classes- just what I like to look at and I found that I was trying to figure out the "mourning" part - is she someone who looks ahead not grieving for what is not there? or just a in the moment person? even if I don't get the intended idea - it was interesting to look at and i like the detail and the birds - hard to figure out her expression but that's good too - makes me wonder. I had never seen any of your creations before (except for the boys and they are beautiful!) hope you have an enjoyable weekend love, Denise

Kelly... GREAT painting! I love the color palette and the title makes you really engage with the painting. Beautiful sentiment captured. :o)

Jen

P.S.- Etsy is a great site to sell art! I highly recommend it (especially over Ebay).

Thanks Aunt Denise,

The "mourning" part comes from the bird perched on her head, it's a mourning dove. I guess that is not super obvious! But that's okay. The other bird is a Chat.
Thanks for your comments!
